AVEYRON’S HERITAGE

DiscoverAveyron through its history and incredible heritage (listed villages, monuments, castles, religious buildings…). Here are a few ideas for visits to get to know the diversity of Aveyron’s heritage.

Rodez

Rodez is the prefecture and largest city in Aveyron.

From the winding paths of the Jardin Public to the pedestrian lanes of the old town, from the Corten steel of the Musée Soulages to the pink sandstone of Notre-Dame Cathedral, from the mineral immensity of the Esplanade des Rutènes to the muted charm of the small squares in the historic heart, Rodez is a clever blend of tradition and modernity.

One of the best ways to discover the city is to follow the tour of the historic center.
This tour through the heart of the city has been designed to tell its story. Depart from the tourist office in Place de la Cité, where a map is available to help you explore the town’s streets and discover the cathedral, the bishop’s palace, the Maison d’Armagnac…
